White Privilege and The Path Forward

White privilege is ability to disassociate myself with the fact that I am white, because on a daily basis I can live my life without thinking about the color of my skin.

The history of slavery, racism and tactics used by our own government to imprison, improvise and mentally enslave Black Americans make them, to this day, ever conscious of their skin color.

I truly believe in Cell Memory. The science is there. That means beyond the obvious conscious trauma that Black Americans may walk around with, there is subconscious trauma lingering like a cancer that is passed down, generation to generation if it's not slowly addressed and that chain broken.

These chains of slavery bind us all. Not only by color. But as Americans who ARE essentially good people, who love democracy, cherish the republic and no mater what bias we may have, want freedom, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

When slave owners, both white and black were forced to free their slaves, many of those slaves were pushed out into society without reparations. This means that they were stranded within communities and cultures without an education or skill other than toiling in the fields, having had their culture taken stripped from them and this new identity, that of subservient, segregated, subhuman, at the forefront of their minds, either consciously or unconscious.

The black community, many still economically and educationally oppressed, fight a war within to establish a new Paradigm.

There needs to be a talk about reparations. That talk is more than a check. It’s a nationwide movement between the United States government and every Black American.

It’s not a white VS black issue. The majority of Americans in general are disgusted with the history of slavery. The overwhelming majority of white Americans do not have ties to slavery but that doesn’t diminish the privilege of never having to second guess our place in this world.

The United States government should immediately develop programs that would mentor Black entrepreneurs in starting their own business, business's that would employ and mentor other Black Americans.

This would be in the form of classes, sweeping college grants, sweeping business grants, interest free home loans to help establish Black generational wealth.

The United States government would fund the refurbishment of all school in the inner city. Billions of dollars to make these school cutting edge.

With the buy in of Black Leadership, those communities would have a say and be a part of the process, which would include community beautification.

In every inner city, what is striking is a lack of trees and prevalence of houses that have bars on doors and windows. Houses that have 4 to 6 foot fences to keep crime away. But in actually, these homes are no more than a abstract prison that prepare a person for familiarity with incarceration. 

It will take serious dedication from within and from outside these communities. A new mindset, not of slavery’s past, but of a future of Black Excellence and education/economic freedom.

That is the way forward. If we can fight wars for decades, costing trillion of dollars, we can fight this war at home. A war that if won......means true social, cultural and economic power. Something that would make every person not just say, but feel, proud to be an American.
